Wat Phra That Doi Prabat (Wat Phrabat Sanambin) is very close to the old Chiangrai Airport. Contrary to other mentions of this temple, there is no view! There are two access routes, the simplest is by crossing the old airport runway on Doiphabart Road.

The Karen elephant camp at Baan Ruammit on the bank of the Mae Nam Kok (Kok River) is located 19 kilometres from Chiang Rai. Well worth a visit, its easily reached by either long-tail boat (recommended), car or motorcycle.
